A great way to travel is also to experience local cuisine of a country or region. Both food and culture can be experiences in a do-it-yourself way or by taking a local tour or private guide.

Rajasthan has a large number of festivals celebrating its art and music, but none as intimate and authentic as the Jodhpur RIFF held at the Mehrangarh Fort.
Zagreb is nothing like the medieval towns of Split and Dubrovnik, and yet, warrants a day or two. There is interesting architecture, small museums, good restaurants and beautiful parks to be enjoyed.
