Destination

Four Seasons Nam Hai resort is in Quang Nam province on Vietnam’s central coast. We flew down to Da Nang airport to reach this Luxury beach resort near Hoi An.

It boasts of a kilometer-long stretch of one of Forbes “best beaches in the world”.

The historic town of Hoi An is within easy reach. So are the rice fields a bit further and idyllic village life to be explored on a cycle, motorbike or boat trip.

The imperial city of Hue, which was the capital during the reign of Nguyen dynasty, can be explored as a day trip. Then, there is My Son – one of Southeast Asia’s foremost Hindu temple complexes – which is worth a visit.

We experienced an intense storm one evening. It thankfully passed away in minutes.

Stay at Four Seasons Nam Hai

All 100 villas here optimize the ocean and beach views. Accommodations range from one-bedroom villas to five-bedroom luxury compounds. All have lavish floor space, tropical landscaping, and an expansive bathroom at the back that opens out to a private garden with an outdoor rain shower. Some villas have additional private grounds, a swimming pool and direct access to Ha My Beach.

We had reached this beach resort quite late in the evening. The dim lights were not enough to take in all the landscaped areas surrounding the independent cottages. But the first view of the villa took my breath away!

Our One-Bedroom Ocean-View Villa had a king-sized bed on a raised central platform, next to a bathtub, a sitting area, and an outdoor patio. There was a large bathroom area at the back that opened into a private garden with an open shower.

Sunshine, palm trees, infinity pools and a white sandy private beach – it doesn’t get better than this!

The next morning was when we were hit with the sheer beauty of the beach resort. The patio of our villa opened into a white sand area. We enjoyed the spectacular landscaped areas surrounding the villas.

Food at Four Seasons Nam Hai

One of the most lavish breakfast buffets to be had at the Café Nam Hai. We visited this café for a sumptuous dinner as well.

Can you believe starting your day with Mimosa one day, Bellini the next and a refreshing Bloody Mary the next?!

Yup, all part of the lavish breakfast that had Vietnamese, Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian and Continental fare.

Romance by the Sea is a great option for a leisurely lunch on a balmy day. We had enjoyed fresh seafood and sandwiches here.

The Bar is a sexy lair for an evening with your beau, good cocktails and sleek interiors. We spent a lovely evening here despite the breakfast cocktail!

The resort has an excellent in-villa dining service. We had reached the resort quite tired after the road trip from Halong Bay and a flight to Danang. We wanted comfort food, that too in the villa and as promptly as possible. Much to our surprise, Nam Hai had several Indian food items on their menu. The simple yellow dal-roti-sabzi (lentils and vegetable gravy with Indian bread) never tasted better!

Activities at and around this Luxury Beach Resort

The location of this Hoi An beach resort allows you to explore many towns and sites nearby. But first, on what all this beach resort offers for you and your family – you might be tempted to not leave!

Spend a day lazying at the private stretch of Ha My beach and in the infinity pool of the resort. This beach packing list would prove useful.

For those interested in cooking, Nam Hai boasts of a professional-grade Cooking Academy, where you can take classes in Vietnamese cooking.

For those keen on active sports, there are a plethora of water sports on offers, from jet-skiing to wakeboarding to water skiing and kayaking. The resort has tennis, badminton and basketball courts as well as table tennis, pool and foosball tables. We got enough exercise done by taking the complimentary cycles and pedaling away from our villa to the restaurant to the kiddie center!

As amazing as the resort is, you will spend a lot of time away. Simply because Central Vietnam has so much to offer!

Experience the evening buzz in Hoi An. The resort offers shuttle bus service few times a day to Hoi An. This UNESCO World Heritage town was once an ancient port. Restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and even with hordes of people thronging about, Hoi An manages to seduce. We had a couple of nice evenings strolling through this pretty town and eating some of the best food in Vietnam.

Enjoy rural Vietnam via a cycling tour.

Explore the rice fields and an idyllic village life beyond Hoi An on a cycle, motorbike or boat trip.

The red doors at the Hue citadel are captivating.

Do visit the imperial city of Hue and the glorious citadel. This erstwhile capital of the Nguyen emperors reminds one of the past glory of Imperial Vietnam.

If you are up for more ruins, a visit to My Son can be arranged by the resort. The resort also offers sunrise and sunset cruises.

What puts a smile ☺

Champagne breakfasts! I have already confessed this – I made full use of the sparkling wine and the mimosa and the bloody marys on offer each day. What a great way to start the day!

The room service – simple yet delicious Indian food – restored our energy after a long travel day getting to the property.

My daughter spent a couple of enjoyable afternoons at the Kids’ Club.

Recommended for families?

Absolutely!

For families with kids, my recommendation is to stay at a beach resort in Da Nang, instead of being holed up in either Hoi An or Hue.

The Four Seasons Nam Hai with its pristine stretch of beach, proximity to central Vietnam’s key UNESCO sites, three-tiered infinity pools, 86 acres of tropical gardens, numerous sporting facilities, a Health Club, a Kids’ Club and a Cooking Academy has just about everything covered for you and your family.
