The family trip to Bali happened when my daughter was just shy of being 2 years. Beach holidays with toddlers work the best and we were looking for relaxation, good food, and adventure. Bali fit the bill and how. Our trip was made special with the stay at W Bali – one of the best Seminyak resorts for couples and families.
This was after spending a weekend in Singapore. In any case, there was no direct flight connecting Delhi to Bali. So the stop at Singapore worked out well, the city is a great destination for a family holiday.
Destination

How can one island offer so much to do, see, experience, eat, enjoy, with such grace, is your first thought?
Is Bali a tropical paradise? Yes, with all the beaches, surfing, diving, and blue waters.
Is it a cultural destination? Ubud comes to mind.

A destination for luxury seekers? Seminyak with its stylish hotels & resorts, designer boutiques, and fine dining restaurants fits right in.
And what about nightlife? Kuta and Legian offer it in abundance. So does the upscale Seminyak. I would rate Seminyak as one of the best places to stay in Bali.
Stay at W Seminyak

W Bali is easily one of the posh hotels or resorts in Seminyak. This is a large property – with 229 rooms. The Garden Escape Room looks out at the lushly landscaped greens of the resort and has a green theme in the room. If unending ocean views from a spacious balcony are your desire, opt for the Ocean Facing Escape.
There are 6 suite options. But I think nothing beats the villas for the feeling of getting-away-from-it-all. All villas come with a large size private pool and sundeck, you can choose between 1/2/3 bedrooms.
We had stayed in the Garden Escape room, a good choice, especially if you have Starwood points to burn. The other family members with us had booked a One Bedroom Pool Villa.
Food at W Seminyak
W has 7 dining options. Main restaurants are Starfish Bloo offering an interpretation of Asian flavors and Fire featuring an open kitchen and wood-fired grill. Private dining options include 1 Below and Cellar which offer a wide collection of labels to be enjoyed in a private setting. There are more eclectic areas to enjoy for a drink and finger food – ICE serves frozen cocktails with artisan cheeses, WooBar with a skyjack overlooking the beach and a lively vibe, and the W Lounge.

Seminyak is bursting with good restaurants, so we had limited meals at the restaurants within W. But you must spend an evening at the atmospheric Woobar. We enjoyed a delicious seafood meal at the Starfish Bloo as well.
Activities in and around W Seminyak
W makes a good base to the boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and nightlife that Seminyak has to offer. The Potato Head & Beach Club is on the same road.
And within the hotel, there are all amenities to not lift a finger – spend a day at the private beach, get a treatment done at the 24-hour spa, exercise at the state-of-the-art fitness center, or browse through the books, magazines, DVD collection. There is also a decent Business Center (although why are you in Bali if you have to do business!). The hotel can arrange for a cultural tour of Bali, or take you to a jungle or beach getaway.

There is, of course, no dearth of activities in Bali. There is enough to do in Seminyak. Do spend a day or two exploring Ubud. And if you are looking for shopping in Bali, there is everything from the high-end boutiques to cheap stalls and everything in between.
For the thrill-seeker, there are several water sports on offer in Nusa Dua. And if getting away from it all is on your mind, go to Uluwatu and see the 180-degree view of the Indian Ocean. Check this post for a detailed 2 week Bali itinerary.
What puts a smile ☺
The Pool Villas – the spacious bedroom, the rainforest shower, the private pool with sundeck, the room service, all take seclusion and relaxation to a different level.

Like I mentioned earlier, do spend an evening at WooBar. The ocean, the balmy wind, the palm trees gently swaying and their yummylicious cocktails all make for a classic tropical paradise experience.

Recommended for families?
No questions about it.
If you are with toddlers or older kids, you could do worse than walking to the beach or the swimming pool and spending a lazy day there. And if you are lucky enough to be traveling with other family members, then leave the kid(s) behind with them and make use of all the fine dining restaurants, stylish bars and clubs that Seminyak has to offer! Seminyak is one of the coolest places to visit in Bali.
