There are so many amazing places to visit in Rajasthan that freezing a Rajasthan Itinerary is no mean task! Rajasthan destinations, architectural points of interest, local life, good road and rail network all make for a memorable holiday.
One of my favourite cities – Jodhpur with the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, other examples of architecture, spicy local food and friendly vibes – is a must-do on any itinerary to Rajasthan.
It is difficult not to be charmed by the desert citadel, that is Jaisalmer. This is the last outpost on the western border of Rajasthan. Visit its fabulous Fort, see the Havelis in the old town, spend a night in the Thar Desert.
Rajasthan has a large number of festivals celebrating its art and music, but none as intimate and authentic as the Jodhpur RIFF held at the Mehrangarh Fort.
Jaisalmer is a dream destination not just for foreign tourists visiting India for its exotic charms, but even for a Rajasthani as I. The hospitality at Suryagarh, a boutique hotel, about 15 kilometres outside the Jaisalmer city made our trip a memorable one.
